FAQ
Questions, answered.
Availability and eligibility are subject to applicable law, jurisdiction, document eligibility, and transaction requirements.
Notary With Kamau™ is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. The notary cannot determine whether a document is legally sufficient for your particular situation. Consult a qualified attorney when legal advice is needed.
Is remote online notarization legal?
Remote online notarization can be legally recognized where authorized, subject to applicable law, jurisdiction, document eligibility, and transaction requirements.
What documents can be notarized?
Many common personal, estate, real estate, business, and government documents are eligible. Eligibility is subject to applicable law, jurisdiction, document eligibility, and transaction requirements — contact us first if you are unsure.
What identification is required?
A valid government-issued identification is typically required. The exact requirements depend on the applicable verification workflow, jurisdiction, and transaction requirements.
How does Proof work?
Proof provides the technology supporting identity verification and the live remote session. Notary With Kamau™ performs the applicable notarial act.
How long does a session take?
Many sessions complete in about ten minutes, but the actual duration varies by verification, document complexity, and signer readiness.
Can someone outside Maryland use the service?
Possibly. Availability is subject to applicable law, jurisdiction, document eligibility, and transaction requirements.
How does mobile notarization work?
Mobile notarization is a separate, in-person service channel. Availability depends on location, scheduling, document requirements, and notary availability, and travel or scheduling fees may apply.
How does the referral program work?
Approved partners receive a unique referral link. Customers who arrive through that link are attributed to the partner, and qualifying services are tracked server-side.
When does the partner receive 15%?
Approved partners may receive 15% of the applicable qualifying notary service fee according to the program terms, after the applicable qualifying event occurs. Not every transaction automatically qualifies.
How are referrals tracked?
The referral code is captured from the referral link, preserved through the customer journey, and validated and calculated server-side. Customers cannot change commission amounts.
Is my information secure?
Appropriate technical safeguards are used for sensitive transaction information. Identity-verification data is handled through Proof and is not stored in our referral records.
What is Instant Notarization?
Instant Notarization describes the ability to begin the digital workflow promptly online. It is not a guarantee that notarization is completed immediately — eligibility review, verification, and notary availability still apply.
Can I schedule instead of starting immediately?
Yes. You can reserve an online notarization appointment through our booking page, or request an in-person mobile appointment through the mobile notary page.
What if my document requires witnesses?
Tell us during your request. Witnesses can be provided for an additional fee where available, subject to applicable requirements.
What is the Trust Network™?
The Trust Network™ is our partner community. Eligible partners refer customers with a unique referral link or QR code, and qualifying completed transactions are attributed to them.
How do I become a partner?
Apply through the partner program. Applications, approval, referral codes, QR codes, commissions, and payouts are managed in our partner platform, which is the source of truth for the program.
How do I receive my referral code and QR code?
Approved partners receive a unique referral code, referral link, and QR code through the partner platform, along with a dashboard for tracking referrals and commissions.
How does the QR code work?
Scanning a partner QR code opens the public brand site with the partner’s referral code attached. The code is captured and preserved through the customer journey.
When is a commission created, and how is it paid?
A commission is recorded when a qualifying transaction is completed and attributed to an eligible partner, according to program terms. Commissions are reviewed and approved by the administrator, and payouts are issued manually. Participation does not guarantee income.
Can I start immediately?
Yes — start an instant notarization request online, subject to applicable law, jurisdiction, document eligibility, and transaction requirements.
